Equipment Rental

Here at Studio Myriad, we have a myriad of photo, video and audio equipment for rental. Based in Singapore, we rent our equipment for recreational use, professional use, and as props on film production sets and events. Geared towards amateurs, semi-professionals and students, we have flexible and affordable discounts and rates all year round. We offer 5% off for all students and an additional 5% off (total 10%) for Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Lasalle College of the Arts students. Further discounts can be given for mid to large scale rental needs. Have a look at our equipment list and fill up our equipment rental form for bookings.

FAQ

What is the rental process like? Where do I start?

After looking at our equipment rental list, the first thing that you will need to do is to fill up our equipment rental form (https://bit.ly/studiomyriadrentalform). You’ll be required to upload all documents required for rental. Once we give you the green light through text or email, you will be issued an invoice and you can pay for the rental fee through Paynow/Paylah! or a bank transfer. Lastly, head down to our studio to collect your equipment! 

 

What do I need to prepare for rental?

You will need a combination of your NRIC/FIN/Passport (both front and back) and a latest bill statement with your name and address on it (eg. bank statement). If you’re a student, please submit your student card (both front and back) as well as the above documents. Please reach out to us if you are unsure of the documents required.

 

Do you require a deposit?

You’ll be required to pay a fully refundable deposit based on the total value of the equipment rented. In most cases, it will be a $50 deposit that will be refunded once all equipment is returned. For mid to large scale rental, a $100-$200 deposit might be required.

 

Where do I collect the equipment?

We only do collections at our studio location, 475B Upper Serangoon Crescent S532475. We do not do deliveries. Contact us for more information regarding collection.

 

What are the collection and return timings?

You can collect your equipment the day before, from 12pm-6pm. You can also collect the equipment on the ‘first day’ of rental. Returns can be done on the final day itself, or the day after from 9am-12pm. You can make alternative arrangements with us if the timings do not work for you, subjected to our availability.

 

Can I book on someone’s behalf?

We do not allow bookings on someone’s behalf. The particulars and documents provided will have to be yours alone. However, you can collect the rented equipment in someone else’s stead.

 

Can I extend the rental period?

Yes you can, but this will be subjected to availability. Please contact us immediately (and within 48 hours of the end of your rental) if you wish to extend your rental period.

 

What happens if I’m late for my returns?

If you fail to inform us of any late returns, you will be charged a 50% non-discounted fee for any late returns the day after. You will then be charged a 1-day non-discounted rental fee for each passing day, capped at 7 days (8 days from the supposed date of return). After 8 days, there will be a collection fee imposed which comprises the retail cost of the equipment and any opportunity cost incurred at non-discounted rates. If we are unable to collect the rented equipment or find a solution, the case will be reported as theft and reported to the relevant authorities.

 

How do I know if the equipment is in good working condition?

Our team will always do a preliminary check once the equipment is booked for rental. During collection, our team will once again check the equipment with you to ensure that everything is in good working condition.

 

Do you offer any discounts for students, or for mid to large scale rental?

Yes we do. Students have a 5% discount off their final bill, and students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Lasalle College of the Arts also enjoy an additional 5% discount (total 10%) on their final bill. What if I want to cancel a booking?

Reach out to us immediately if you wish to cancel a booking, you will not be penalised for your first cancellation with us. However, subsequent cancellations will incur a cancellation fee. A 10% fee for 14 days cancellation, 25% fee for 2-7 days cancellation, and a 50% fee for last minute cancellations (within 24 hours from collection). 

 

What happens if I damage any equipment?

As stated in our rental terms and conditions, you will be required to bear the full cost of any repairs or servicing. Any major scratches and scuff marks on the glass of a lens, impact damage, water or moisture damage to any equipment will constitute as damage.

 

What happens if I misplace any equipment?

Reach out to us immediately if you lose or misplace our equipment. We also advise that you make a police report if you think the equipment was stolen. As stated in our rental terms and conditions, you will be required to bear the full cost of the latest retail price of the equipment. 

 

Do you have insurance for equipment rental?

We do not have insurance for equipment rental. Do note that you are fully responsible for any damage or loss to our equipment. We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance if you wish to bring the equipment overseas for leisure or work usage.


Rental Agreement (Terms and Conditions)

The terms and conditions set out below is the Rental Agreement (RA) between the Equipment Owner, Studio Myriad (“Studio Myriad”, “Owner”, “Us”, “We” or “Our”) and the Renter (“Renter”, “I”, “You” or “Your”), to rent the equipment requested by the renter in our rental equipment form.

A. General

1. The parties do herein bind themselves to the terms of this Agreement in regard to all equipment rented by You from Studio Myriad, from the date of this Agreement until terminated, modified or replaced.

2. All equipment is and shall remain the exclusive property of Studio Myriad.

3. Studio Myriad reserves the right, without prior notification, to change any descriptions or images of, or references to, any products or services on the website, or to limit the order quantity on any such product or service and/or refuse service to you.

4. You agree to assume full responsibility and liability for the safekeeping and return of all rented equipment accepted by You as shall be set forth in Studio Myriad’s equipment rental form. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless to Studio Myriad and any other persons to which Studio Myriad itself may be responsible to indemnify and hold harmless, from any and all liability, claims, damages, costs and expenses arising from Customer’s use, misuse and/or possession of the rented equipment.

5. Studio Myriad will not be liable or responsible for any injury or death during the use of any rented equipment.

6. Studio Myriad will not be liable or responsible for any indirect, special, incidental or consequential damage suffered by you or any other person due to any breach of our rental agreement, and You release and indemnify Us (including legal costs) from any such claim.

7. Should You become declared a Bankrupt, and had provided a guarantor for this agreement, the guarantor shall bear full and complete responsibility to carry out Your obligations stated in this RA fully and without reservation.

8. Should a company become insolvent or file for Bankruptcy, the individual who made the booking shall bear full and complete responsibility to carry out the obligations stated in this RA fully and without reservation.

 

B. Equipment Condition and Collection

1. You acknowledge receiving the equipment from Studio Myriad:

1. Is in good and perfect working condition, unless specified in the equipment rental list or through writing.

2. Comes with all accessories, manuals, other items specified in the equipment rental list.

3. At the stated discounted or non-discounted price in the equipment list, or as agreed on in writing.

4. With additional checks done during the collection of equipment, by both the equipment owner and by you, the renter.

5. Acknowledge that the person(s) collecting the rented equipment is the renter who submitted their documents through the equipment rental form, unless communicated in writing to Studio Myriad.

2. Studio Myriad will not be liable or be responsible for any claims or representations   of the aesthetic condition and performance of the equipment once it leaves our studio upon collection.

C. Use of Rented Equipment 

1. You shall only use the equipment in a careful and proper manner, and you will comply with all laws, rules and regulations regarding the use, maintenance and storage of the equipment.

2. You will be fully responsible in keeping and maintaining the equipment in good and clean aesthetic and working condition during the rental period.

3. You will not use the equipment for any unlicensed or unlawful purposes. 

4. You shall not in any way repair or alter the equipment in any shape or form, externally or internally.

5. You shall not rent or lease Studio Myriad’s equipment to anyone else for recreation or profitable reasons.

 

D. Return of Equipment

1. You agree to return the equipment to Studio Myriad:

1. In the same physical and working condition when received.

2. To the specified return location, unless arranged with Studio Myriad through writing.

3. With all the accessories, manuals, other items specified in Clause A(1.2).

4. At the specified timings during your return date, unless arranged with Studio Myriad through writing.

2. Studio Myriad must be notified and agree to any extension for equipment rental period. If you fail to inform us of any late returns, you will be charged a 50% non-discounted fee for any late returns the day after. You will then be charged a 1-day non-discounted rental fee for each passing day, capped at 7 days (8 days from the supposed date of return). After 8 days, there will be a collection fee imposed which comprises the retail cost of the equipment and any opportunity cost incurred at non-discounted rates. If you fail to return the equipment by the stipulated date and time, and if we are unable to collect the rented equipment or find a solution, the case will be reported as theft and/or criminal breach of trust, and reported to the relevant authorities.

3. In the event that any equipment is damaged or misplaced, we do not accept a one-to-one exchange of pre-used or pre-owned equipment.

4. Studio Myriad reserves the right to take possession of the equipment if we deem it to be used for:

1. Unlicensed or unlawful purposes.

2. Mishandled, abused or abandoned.

3. Has not been returned to us by the stipulated return time and date.

5. If You shall become insolvent, cease to do business as a going concern or if a petition has been filed by or against You under the Bankruptcy Act or similar state statute, Studio Myriad may immediately declare You in default of this RA. In the event of default, We may, as permitted by law, re-take possession of the rented equipment.

 

E. Deposit

1. You acknowledge that:

1. You’ll be required to pay a fully refundable deposit based on the total value of the equipment rented. 

2. If the total value of equipment is below $500, a $50 deposit will be required, which will be refunded once all equipment is returned.

3. If the total value of equipment exceeds $500, a $100 to $200 deposit, based on the total value of equipment rented, will be required.

4. The deposit will only be refunded once all equipment is returned in good aesthetic and working condition.

5. The deposit will be voided and not refunded in the event of any lost or misplacement of equipment, or failure to return any equipment.

 

F. Charges and Fees

1. You agree to pay the charges and fees required for rental, up until the return of equipment to Studio Myriad.

1. All charges as the rates specified in the rental agreement form, unless agreed or arranged with Studio Myriad through writing.

2. All charges for extension of equipment rental, subjected to availability. A 50% non-discounted fee for any late returns will be applied the day after. You will then be charged a 1-day non-discounted rental fee for each passing day, capped at 7 days (8 days from the supposed date of return). After 8 days, there will be a collection fee imposed which comprises the retail cost of the equipment and any opportunity cost incurred at non-discounted rates.

3. Full repair or servicing fee if the equipment is damaged. Any major scratches and scuff marks on the glass of a lens, impact damage, water or moisture damage to any equipment will constitute as damage.

4. Full replacement fee for any misplaced or lost equipment at the latest retail price.

5. Any opportunity lost, compensation and collection fees, any loss of income due to non-rentable state of equipment.

 

G. Payment of Charges and Fees

1. You will be required to make payment for the equipment rental based on the rental period required, before or during collection of equipment.

2. You will only be allowed to collect your equipment once all charges and fees are paid.

3. You will be required to pay a refundable deposit during collection as stated in Clause D.

4. You will be required to use Paynow/Paylah! a Direct Bank Transfer or Cash on Collection for payment.

5. You will be required to pay all charges and fees from collection to return, late charges, collection or equipment recovery fees as stated in Clause E.
